Joshua D. Kanies
Born: Harvard, Illinois. 1978

Joshua Kanies has a BFA in Visual Studies from Iowa State University and an MFA in Film from the San Francisco Art Institute. As an avid nature enthusiast and mountain climber his current motion picture work focuses on using personal and poetic documentary as a tool for exploration, environmental education and conservation. Currently working as the Education Manager at Film Arts Foundation, he has worked as a Director, Cinematographer, Editor, Video Production Engineer, and Graphic Designer in the fields of art, education and business.  Joshua has been working with film, video, and web content delivery for over 10 years and his recent films Zen of John Muir, Mourning Drive, Confluence, Reticent, Seeing and Chasm have screened domestically and internationally.
